Somebody I Can Bitch About (part 6): Seriously?!?

Olivia had a great morning showing townhouses near the Los Angeles Zoo and decided to celebrate by going over to Griffith Park and play on the swings for a bit. Nothing crazy, she was in heels. There was just something kind of freeing about swinging back and forth that made all your problems go away. Even if you were in a Tahari skirtsuit and 3 inch heels.

Chris had been filming nearby and walked over to the park to get a snack from a pretzel vendor. He wasn’t due back for just over an hour. He found a picnic table across from the swings to sit down and eat.  Not long after he sat down, he noticed a grown woman on the swing set.  He recognized those legs. A man had his weaknesses. That was Olivia.  He finished his pretzel and headed over.

“Hey Beautiful, Come here often?”  He had to tease her a little.

She stopped staring up at the sky long enough to look over and recognize Chris. “Only when I think handsome men are going to be lurking around.” She slowed her swing so that she was mostly just rocking back and forth.  Chris came over and took the swing next to her.  “We have got to stop meeting like this.”

“Or maybe we should keep meeting like this? I’m starting to think the universe wants us to be friends,” he countered.

“It seems that way.  I had a good morning and came over to celebrate. What’s your excuse for being here?”

“I’m on a break from work. They won’t need me for about 45 more minutes, so I came to relax and have a pretzel.”

“Are you sure you aren’t stalking me? You keep showing up places where I am. Should I be concerned? Or do you just have a pretzel fetish?”

“I admit it. I’m stalking you. Accidentally, but stalking nonetheless,” he admitted jokingly. “Any chance you want to tell me where you’re having dinner tonight so I don’t have to look for you?”

She looked at him for a good couple of minutes. “Can I see your cell phone?”

He pulled it out of his pocket and handed it over.  She sent a text to her own phone and handed him back his phone. She got up and left then. “Gotta meet a client in 45 minutes. See you later Chris,” she said walking backwards away from him.

“See ya.”  He looked at his phone.  He figured she would have entered her name & number in his contacts and was scrolling through them to find her when he got a text message from someone not in his contacts.  He check the text and realized what she had done.

“Meet me tonight. 8p. Blue Lounge PCH. Friends,” was what she had sent to her phone from his.

Her reply was “Friends. With Pretzels.”

Chris checked his watch and figured he needed to get back. He was looking forward to seeing his new friend later.  He quickly added her to his contact list. Why couldn’t he meet a woman like her to date?
