“So Cindy not only had Bride magazine on her night stand, but she actually asked me my opinion on dresses. We’ve been casually dating for less than three months. I never even implied that I had feelings for her. Why would she think I wanted to get married?”
“Glenn was a pig. He invited me over for sex, but apparently really wanted me to fix dinner for him. Hello? I’m the guest! I’m not doing all the work.”
“Was the sex good at least?”
Olivia laughed. “It didn’t get that far. He was dropping hints right away that he wanted me to cook dinner.” She did another shot. “Asshat could have just ordered pizza. I did consider the sex anyway. Glenn has skills.”
“So what’s the worst date you’ve ever been on,” Chris asked.
She ordered another round. “Easy. I was young and stupid. I went out with a guy to spite another guy. The other guy wasn’t interested in me, but he didn’t want me dating anyone he didn’t approve of. So this guy picked me up from work & we were supposed to go hear a band play. We had a lot of time to kill and he offered to take me by his parents house so I could meet them.”
“On a first date,” he asked? She nodded. “Holy shit.”
“We got to his parent’s house and he was showing me around. About the time we got to his bedroom, the fucking power went out in the whole house. I still don’t know how I made it down those stairs in the dark without hurting myself or breaking something.” She paused remembering. “What was worse was that after the band played, he offered to take me by his grandmother’s house.”
“Who was this guy? Did he have you try on her wedding dress there?”
She laughed. “No, but he showed me his ‘apartment’ that was really the basement with an external door. He refused to take me home. He said he sensed that I was resisting letting anything happen with him. Seriously.” She did another shot.
Chris had a shot too. “Bastard. I think my worst date was this girl who got so drunk at a baseball game with me that she passed out. I carried her to the car and then she puked all over the car. Twice.” Chris had another shot. “She didn’t understand why I never asked her out again.”
They sat there for the rest of the night, talking, bitching, laughing, and drinking.
